If you want to provide paid leave to employees that is not covered by the legislated leave types available in PaySauce, you may want to use special leave.

Lieu leave is also available (this is not an alternative public holiday for working on a public holiday, but rather for banking and then taking additional leave based on company policy).

Special Leave is a leave type available in PaySauce by default, though you may need to enable it in the employee’s settings if it has been previously deactivated.

You can find the Special Leave option under the leave settings menu in the employee section. Check the box on to enable the leave type for the employee.

You can then record special leave on behalf of the employee by entering it directly into their pay card, or the employee can request it through the app.

Creating a special leave balance

If you want to give an employee a balance of special leave that is available for them to take, you can do this in two ways.

You can record an entry of 'special leave earned' in your pay run, specifying the dates and amount you want to add to their balance.

You can also record 'special leave taken' in the same pay run if you wish to.

Alternatively, you can choose to add a value directly to the employee's balance by entering an adjustment.

Instructions for leave adjustments can be found in this article: Correcting leave records.
